The America’s Languages Portal, with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, seeks to document schools and programs that are advancing equity and access in language education. These programs are intended to serve as models of how to meet the language education needs of historically underserved learners, including emergent bilingual populations (Native American, heritage, immigrant, refugee, Latinx) as well as People of Color and high-poverty rural and urban populations.
Who can apply includes community-based heritage language programs with model practices that increase the number or diversity of learners and languages.
The Portal invites program leaders to complete an application that demonstrates how they advance equal access to language education in an excellent program. Upon approval by teams of distinguished educators across the country, programs will be entered on the Portal for educators to emulate, stakeholders to promulgate, and funders to support.
Please take advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate your program’s excellence and commitment to Access, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Go to http://americaslanguages.org, read about the America’s Languages Initiative and its Portal, apply and encourage the schools in your language community to apply!
